Chanel Spring 2011 Haute Couture

Here are my favourites.

Black Swan

So, Matt and I wanted to see Black Swan in theaters soooooooooo bad. However, it was a limited release at the time and only the theaters in the North side and South side were playing it. I live plum squat in the middle of the West end. A huuuuuge amount of snow had fallen (over 5 inches) and my mom told me I was not allowed to drive up to the North Side. I did anyway because I realllly wanted to see the film, and man was it worth it!

For those of you who got entangled in my tale and worried how the story ended,

my mom figured me out, but because I am a woman of such upstanding character (bahahaha)

I did not get into trouble . I did have to clean my bathroom though.

Back on topic. Black Swan was amazing. So fantastic, and I highly recommend it. PS... Kate and Laura Mulleavy designed the costumes for Natalie! They are fantastic. Her make up looks stunning too. Here are some great pics.

Oh! And for those of you who didn't know... Natalie Portman has a degree from Harvard, and is a trained ballet dancer!

Christina Hendricks

So. Christina Hendricks. Golden Globes 2011. Here is what she wore:

Now, my first problem with this is that she is a red head. Can some red heads wear red? Absolutely. Not her. Not this much of that red. Second, you can tell from most of the dress that she hoped to minimize her bust. Bravo. HOWEVER, a giant second-head flower right on top only brings your eyes right there. And it looks weird. My final gripe is this; let us take a look at what she wore to the 2010 SAG Awards.

If you read this blog enough, you should know exactly what I am thinking. Oy vay.

Golden Globe Problems

So here are two ladies who were at the Golden Globes. And I am very conflicted. Because for both women, I am not sure of what I think. I think, in both cases, I do indeed like the dress. However I think the rest of the package is so lack luster as to make me second guess the beauty of the dress. Opinions?

6 Feet Under

So I loveeeee Six Feet Under. With like Peter Krause and Michael C. Hall. And there's this crazy character Brenda, who sometimes you love and sometimes you hate, but for the most part she is pretty stylish. Anyways, Rachel Griffiths plays Brenda. The shows final season aired in 2005 and as I was looking for Golden Globe Fashion I stumbled across this picture of Rachel and almost cried. Gah.

So I went over to my boyfriend's house last night. We watched this show we love (Six Feet Under... SO AMAZING) and we had some pizza and chocolate and I did some random dumb singing and it was just so much fun! Why does this matter to you? Well, it prolly doesn't actually. Unless the reader is my friend who wishes me well. Anyway, the point is my boyfriend is amazing as all get out so here is some stuff I found on Le Love to express my sheer contentment and love for my amazing guy!

Packt like Sardines in a Crushd tin Box

This week I want to feature one of my favorite Radiohead tunes. This one comes off the album Amnesiac. I quite enjoy it for its very industrial everyday beats that make up the bulk of it and the and the heavy droning base that picks up a little bit in. The lyrics are another aspect that draws me to the song. They are untypical of the standard lyrical tropes in the majority of pop songs; very off putting and confrontational. Feels like built up anger being spilt out from a shy narrator.

There is no official video for the song, but I was able to find a very interesting fan made one by a youtube user known as RojamNairassoy. Very cool stuff.

And just because I can, here is another Radiohead tune that I quite enjoy. This one has an amazing video to accompany it. It was part of a contest the band had where fans submitted videos to accompany songs off their latest album In Rainbows.

So here are 2 photos from the People's Choice Awards. And man, they made me laugh. From both of these photos I can conclude the following; something smelled.

Selena Gomez

So my sister loves that stupid Disney show "Wizards on Waverly Place". Let me digress and say how completely and utterly ridiculous that show is. However, back on topic, I never really payed attention to Selena Gomez. She was always just that pain in the ass Disney chick on the crappy magic show that kind of looks 6 and acts 3. However, she is 18! Like who knew? And she showed up at the People's Choice Awards, and although I still think she is a terrible actress, a crappy singer, and drowning in the Disney pool, I was super surprised and pleased at how she looked:

She looks really pretty! Mature, but not trying too hard (cough cough Miley Cyrus). Barely there makeup, stunning shoes, well fitted dress. Wow! Well done stupid magic girl!

PETA Problems

What a heinous trend. Truly. So beyond ugly. I do not understand. Animal hats just make you look three.

So I am perusing one of my top websites for badly dressed women, and I see that Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal broke up... WHEN WERE THEY DATING?!?!?!?!

First, he is 9 years... 9 YEARS older then her. Generally its not a big deal, but Taylor, as much as I adore her, doesn't seem to be all to mature for her 21 years.

Second, Jake just broke up with Reese Witherspoon. Rebound? I think so.

Third, I am so not excited to hear the song that comes from this one. How could it last? He macks on every good lookin girl in Hollywood for a living, and she shares every embarrassing detail and downfall from the men she dates.

Finally, I was looking at other photos of them out and about and can you say clingy? She hangs on him like a silk blouse on a hanger! Can you get put in jail for accidental metaphorical asphyxiation? Someone should check that out. And him! He seems so... blase and uninterested. Kinda like "ya, thats right, I have a 6 pack and therefore every single woman in this planet MUST desire me"... no way buddy. I have someone better.

But seriously. I missed the ball. Hard core. It is probably because of studying, and working, and hanging out with my fam and boyfriend, but I have some major penance to pay to the smut world!

The Michalka Sisters

I saw this photo and laughed so hard for like 10 minutes. What are these girls even doing here?!?! This is the People's Choice Awards!!! Ahahaha. AJ has done one thing (Seabiscuit) since leaving her record label writing cookie cutter pre teen songs. And Aly has boobed it up some average TV and film. Short skirts and big cleave sadly will not get you into work requiring legitimate skill. Sorry girls! ... Well not really. Ahahaha.
